When Mary (Jena Malone), a devout senior at a Christian high school, accidentally gets pregnant, she starts to see her peers and her faith in a whole new way. This dark comedy/coming-of-age story premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and was produced by R.E.M. lead singer Michael Stipe. Mandy Moore, Macaulay Culkin, Patrick Fugit, Eva Amurri, Martin Donovan and Mary-Louise Parker co-star.

7:40 – 9:00 pm: Screening Charlie Bartlett, a comedy about a boy who tries to fit in at high school by pretending to be the school psychiatrist, distributing drugs and advice. He gains popularity with the students, but must face the unwelcome attention of the school principal. See trailer.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High is about Southern Californian high school students of the 1980s who enjoyed a life of sex, drugs, rock ‘n’ roll, and surfing. The all star cast includes Sean Penn as stoner Jeff Spicoli. New York Times’ Critics’ Picks.
A night of mind melting tripped out animated videos and interactive psychedelic multi-media performances presented by Portland, Oregon musical group Hooliganship, the 2008 AMRCAN Fall tour was an 80-minute travelling roadshow at Paresky Theater, including shorts by artists Bruce Bickford, Shana Moulton, Adrian Freeman Takeshi Murata, Paper Rad and more. Alongside this cartoon theater was a performance by Hooliganship a grunge rock inspired dance-off duo that combines highly orchestrated cell phone tunes with freak-out animations for a sensory-overload multimedia party. Immigrant families living in North Adams and surrounding communities need help learning to speak and read English, according to people interviewed in a documentary film a dozen Williams College students are finishing this spring.
“We found that one of the greatest barriers for adults who would like to take English as a second language is the number of hours they have to work during the day to support their families,” Allison Seyferth, a senior political economy major from Bennington, Vt., said on Friday. “We’re hoping the film will increase community awareness and interest in helping Northern Berkshire’s growing immigrant population.” Read the rest of this entry »

As some students escaped to the balmy tropics and hit the beach over spring break, over 50 students headed south in search of more than just sunny weather. These students arrived in New Orleans not to sample the Creole cuisine or discover the culture of the Mardi Gras town.
